Participants train in pairs and as a group. In every exercise they learn more than a self-defence technique: they also practise what a team needs to work well together: a shared goal, clear roles, safety, freedom to make decisions and responsibility for each other. These five principles return throughout the workshop.
What your team practises repeatedly
01
A shared goal
Every exercise has a concrete goal: mastering a new technique together and learning to protect yourself or a colleague. Participants are not working side by side on individual tasks; they need each other to make progress. At work, this experience helps a team reconnect individual tasks to one shared result.
02
Clear, alternating roles
During the exercises, participants alternate between attacker and defender, leader and follower. This lets them experience both sides of collaboration: giving clear direction and responding attentively to what the other person needs. At work, this makes it easier to take the lead when needed and make space when a colleague has more knowledge or a better overview.
03
Psychological safety
You trust your partner to control their strength, respect your boundaries and stop immediately when you ask. Everyone can say what does and does not feel comfortable, while the instructor helps maintain a safe framework. Because controlled partner exercises require participants to coordinate with each other physically, familiarity can develop faster than during a conversation around a table. That shared experience reduces social distance and makes it easier to approach each other later at work, ask questions, voice concerns and give feedback.
04
Freedom to make decisions
Everyone sets their own pace and the intensity of the exercise within safe boundaries. At the same time, participants learn to observe, make choices and act when the situation changes during an exercise. This combination of clear boundaries and decision-making freedom encourages ownership at work and acting without waiting for permission at every step.
05
Mutual responsibility
An exercise only succeeds when both partners work together carefully. The result is immediately visible: the technique works safely and in control, or it needs more practice. Both participants are responsible for the execution and for each other's safety. At work, this supports a culture in which colleagues honour agreements, help one another and hold each other accountable respectfully.
Three sessions within one organisation: as far as we're concerned, the best review we could ask for. And we're proud of that.
From training to workplace
Transfer happens because abstract team agreements become visible and tangible behaviour during the workshop. Participants receive immediate feedback and build a shared experience and vocabulary. Back at work, this helps them recognise what a situation needs: is the goal clear, who takes the lead, are boundaries expressed, is there room to decide and do we hold one another accountable? One workshop does not automatically change a team culture, but it does give a team concrete reference points for discussing and improving everyday collaboration.

High Performing Teams
€3.950 excl. VAT
5 hours · for teams that want to perform at their peak · led by an experienced psychologist who is also a certified Krav Maga instructor
Build a high-performing team by overcoming physical challenges together. Trust, communication and cooperation are tested when it gets uncomfortable, and that is what you talk about afterwards. We design the programme with you, as a single session or a trajectory over several half-days.
Full custom trajectory · for organisations with aggression risk
We visit your locations and discuss which situations actually occur there. From that we build a training programme of your own: your people train in their own workplace on scenarios that can happen. This is the heaviest trajectory we offer and it goes further than a workshop.
Above 20 participants we work with a second expert instructor. That becomes a custom quote.
8 March · International Women's Day
Self-defence workshop for women
Part of our requests come from teams that are mostly women, and from organisations looking for a programme with substance around 8 March. Krav Maga fits for a technical reason: the system assumes the opponent is bigger and stronger, so the techniques work without a strength or height advantage.
We keep it practical. Break away, create distance, leave, and what you do if you cannot. This is not a therapy session, but you are welcome with a specific question. That is exactly where we can help. You leave the workshop with concrete skills.
Fun workshop, learned a lot! Recommended as a team outing.
Sweaty, intense and really educational. Training indoors at 33 degrees was tough. Recommended as a team outing.
A really educational workshop and great team building! It’s a fun way to experience how you can handle yourself in real-life situations. You connect with colleagues in a completely different way, literally and figuratively. Ivo gives lots of valuable technique tips, highly recommended! — Maarten
We organized a Krav Maga workshop through DefenseMonkees for our colleagues. The best way I can describe the experience was intense but enjoyable at the same time. We all appreciated this insightful and useful experience that pushed us outside of our comfort zones. It was a fantastic team building experience which we all talked about for many days after. Our instructor Ivo was great and gave very clear explanations of each exercise. We learnt some self-defense moves, we bonded as a team, laughed, and "suffered" as a team! It is a workshop that we would all recommend. Thank you Defense Monkees for this very intense but also fun workshop.
We did the Krav Maga workshop with the whole team from our health centre. Being physically active together with something most of us had never done before turned out to be spot on. We learned a lot, worked on our fitness and laughed a lot together! — Wouter
As a healthcare organisation we asked DefenseMonkees to deliver a custom workshop for 50 people, which was no problem at all! We could specify the group size and duration, after which Ivo delivered a great tailor-made workshop. All participants went home enthusiastic! Many thanks for this custom workshop 😊 — Coco van SAG Amsterdam
The training was very varied, the time flew by. Tailored to situations we might encounter. All in all a fun and interesting training. — Osama
Adding to Osama’s feedback: the training was also a great addition to the team building! — Saara
The threat-management workshop was a great session for our care team. Our team feels safer and better prepared. The practical techniques are directly applicable in our daily work. Thanks to DefenseMonkees our staff have more confidence and know how to protect themselves.
DefenseMonkees delivered an outstanding workshop for us. Participants gained practical self-defense skills and improved their confidence. The instructors were professional and created a supportive learning environment. Highly recommended.
The DefenseMonkees workshop gave us the tools and confidence we needed. In a safe environment we learned to defend ourselves and feel stronger. The instructors were respectful and supportive. This is a workshop that truly empowers vulnerable groups.
It was a surprisingly intensive training. But I enjoyed it. The trainer was very enthusiastic and explained things clearly, all good. — Flip
Thanks for giving the workshop! Even though we hope we will never encounter this kind of violent situation at work, it is still valuable to know how to defend ourselves. The instructions were clearly demonstrated and easy to follow. — Dani
A really fun and energetic close to our management day. From the start the trainers set the right tone: driven, enthusiastic and full of energy, so everyone joined in immediately. At the same time they created a pleasant, safe atmosphere where it was easy to ask questions and okay to make mistakes. The workshop was enjoyable and varied, with realistic situations, so in a short time you got a clear picture of Krav Maga. The length was just right, and the mix of energy, challenge and expert guidance made it an activity we would definitely recommend for other teams. — Mirjam Schokker, Manager Stations Amsterdam Centraal and Utrecht Centraal
Fun, energetic staff outing for the School of Business and Economics. Simon ran a 75-minute session in English for 20 colleagues on campus. We would do it again.

Questions that come first
If your question is not here, put it in the form. You get an answer from the instructor, not from a sales desk.
What does a self-defence workshop cost?+
Introduction to Krav Maga is €499 excl. VAT for 70 minutes, Advanced Team Building €799 excl. VAT for 80 minutes. It is a fixed rate for the group, not per person. Prices exclude venue hire.
How many participants can join?+
From 4 participants. Above 20 participants we work with a second expert instructor; that becomes a custom quote.
Do you come to our own location?+
Yes. Office, sports hall, company restaurant or outdoor space. We need a flat area of about two square metres per participant. If you have no space, we arrange one.
Is it possible with an injury or low fitness?+
Yes. Every exercise has a lighter variant and nobody has to do what they cannot. Share injuries at the intake so the instructor can adapt the programme.
Can the workshop be indoors?+
The workshop can take place indoors or outdoors. Since most workshops are held indoors, the weather won’t affect your plans.
Do people actually fight?+
No. Training is on pads and with controlled partner drills. No sparring, no competition.
How long does it take in total?+
The workshop lasts 70 to 90 minutes. Allow an extra half hour for changing, briefing and the group photo.
Is it suitable for a care team?+
Yes. For teams with aggression risk we match scenarios to situations in your work. Health centres, a COA location and government services have booked this before.
Is it suitable for a women's team?+
Yes. Krav Maga assumes a physically stronger opponent, so the techniques work without a strength or height advantage. We run this regularly for teams that are mostly women, including around International Women's Day.
Which regions do you cover?+
Throughout the Netherlands. We run workshops in every town. Travel costs depend on the instructor available for your location; they are added to the workshop price and listed separately on the quote.
How far in advance should I book?+
Two to three weeks is usually enough. For large groups, for 8 March and in December you are better booking a few months ahead.
